Mission & Vision

The school library media program at Somerset Elementary School is a key component to the success of our student community. Our mission is to provide collaborative instruction in order to enhance the curriculum, while promoting the use of technology to ensure that our students are 21st century learners. Through our program, students are empowered to love literature, become critical thinkers, and participate in ethical research. 

Staff

  • Ms. Crowder, Media Specialist - Ms. Crowder has been a Media Specialist for 11 years.  Before she moved to Maryland she lived in the Virgin Islands. She loves reading, technology and learning about new things. 

  • Ms. McLean, Media Assistant - Ms. McLean is a down to earth, easy going,    always has laughter in her eyes, and mindful of others feelings. She likes to  learn, help others and grow. She loves nature, animals, and singing.

Circulation Policy

 

Kindergarten- 1 book for up to 2 weeks

1st- 5th Grade - 2 books for up to 2 weeks

 

  • All materials must be checked out at the circulation desk.

  • Students who have overdue material may not check out other material until the overdue material is returned.

  • Students may check out additional items for special projects/assignments with approval by the media specialist or the media assistant.

  • All materials can be renewed unless the material is on hold for another patron.

Overdue & Lost Material

 

No fines will be incurred for overdue books, but students are responsible for paying for lost or books damaged beyond repair. Overdue notices will be distributed to classroom teachers once a marking period.
